The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 has reached its penultimate stage with Guyana Amazon Warriors beating Barbados Royals in Qualifier 2 to enter the final. Ahead of the finale, the tournament organisers have announced the venues for the finals of the next two editions.
Taking to social media, CPL made a big announcement as they confirmed the venues for the grand finale for 2025 and 2026 editions. In a post shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), CPL organisers confirmed that the Providence Stadium in Guyana will host the final in 2025, whereas Kensington Oval in Barbados will host CPL final in 2026.
Barbados to host first-ever CPL final in 2026
Guyana meanwhile will host the final in 2025, marking the fourth straight year that the summit clash will be held at the Providence Stadium, Barbados will host the first-ever final of the tournament the following year. In a press release, the CPL announced that it had agreed one-year deals with the two venues to host the final for the next two years.
"I want to take this opportunity to wish Guyana Amazon Warriors all success on behalf of all Guyanese as we try to make it two in a row," Mohammed Irfan Ali, the President of Guyana, said just before Amazon Warriors, the defending CPL champions, booked their berth in Sunday's final. "To all the other teams we wish you well as we play together in unity. I am also very delighted to announce that Guyana will be hosting CPL 2025 finals," he added.
"Guyana and Barbados have been amazing partners for CPL over the last 12 years and it is really exciting to be able to announce that they will be hosts for the finals in 2025 and 2026 respectively," Pete Russell, the CPL CEO, said. "We would like to thank the governments of both Guyana and Barbados who have agreed to play host to the conclusion of CPL," Russell further added.
Defending champions set up date with Saint Lucia Kings for CPL 2024 final
Early on Saturday, October 5, the defending champions, Guyana Amazon Warriors set up a date with Saint Lucia Kings in the CPL 2024 final after they defeated Barbados Royals in the Qualifier 2. A disciplined bowling effort from the Amazon Warriors helped them restrict the Royals to 148. In response to the 149-run target, the batters stood up on the occasion as they took the team over the line in 14.3 overs with 5.3 overs to spare. Moeen Ali was adjudged the Player of the Match with his 2//24 in four overs, followed by an unbeaten 35-ball 44.
