Chennai Super Kings locked horns with Rajasthan Royals in what was match number 17 of the ongoing India Premier League (IPL). After winning the toss earlier, CSK skipper MS Dhoni invited RR to bat first. In the 20 overs quota the Sanju Samson-led side posted 175/6, courtesy Jos Buttler’s yet another half-century. However, restricted bowling from the RR bowlers, did the job for the side eventually.

After a mere three-run defeat, CSK skipper opened up on their side’s performance in the match against RR. Although the finisher MS Dhoni along with Ravindra Jadeja tried to reach the 176-run mark but just fell short by three runs.
In the post-match interview, Dhoni was asked what went wrong for the side. And this time the 41-year-old replied as the batters need to step up in order to win the games for the Yellow Army.
“I think in the middle overs we needed a bot more strike rotation, there wasn’t much for spinners but they had experienced spinners and we could not rotate strike. It was not that difficult and the ownership (of the loss) should come from the batters,” MS Dhoni said at the post-match presentation.
After this loss, MS Dhoni-led CSK continue to sit at the fifth place after two wins and two losses from four games. M eanwhile, RR now go to the top of the table with six points and three wins from their four matches so far in the IPL 2023.
