Only a couple of days are left for the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) to kickstart down under. The first match of the series will be played at Perth Stadium in Perth from November 22 to 26. Australia are yet to win a Test series against India since their last BGT title win in 2014-15.

The current world Test champions Australia will finally look to end India’s 10-year winning streak in BGT and end up winning the Test series down under. Australia are also at the top of the points table in the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle and will be looking to confirm their place in the WTC final at Lords next year. For that, the Baggy Greens will look to dominate India from the first match. Let’s have a look at Australia’s probable playing XI for the first Test versus India.

After David Warner’s retirement from international cricket, Usman Khawaja can be seen opening the innings with Nathan McSweeney as his new opening partner. Khawaja is among Australia’s constant performers against India in Test matches and will look to play a big knock in the first match. On the other hand, McSweeney is likely to make his international debut. The 25-year-old has an impressive record in first-class cricket, scoring 2252 runs in 34 matches at an average of 41.92.
