On Tuesday, March 25, IPL 2022 winners, Gujarat Titans are hosting Punjab Kings in the fifth match of ongoing IPL 2025. Both teams will be vying to overturn their last season performance as they have some new faces in their respective sides. For the unversed, Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to bat first.
As a result, the Shreyas Iyer-led side posted mammoth 243 runs on the board in their stipulated 20 overs. With Priyansh Arya scoring a quickfire 47, it was skipper Iyer, who led from the front, playing a 42-ball 97*. After a few quick knocks from Azmatullah Omarzai and Marcus Stoinis, Shashank Singh also added 44* runs off 16 deliveries to help put a competitive total.
Seeing Iyer return to form, fans set social media ablaze, claiming that Shreyas Iyer is time and again proving his place in the Indian team. While some shared clips from movies and OTTs, claiming how he has been continuosly knocking at BCCI’s door with his performances, a few others credited his "selfless" approach.

The middle-order-batter also etched his name in record books in PBKS’ opening match. He became only the seventh captain to score over 2000 runs in the IPL.
