Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been out of cricketing action after sustaining back injury during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under. He is also out of action for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2025 but is hopeful to make a comeback soon. However, former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond issued warning to MI and the Indian team regarding chances of fracture for the ace fast bowler.
Jasprit Bumrah was recently doing bowling practice at National Cricket Academy giving fans a hope for his return to the cricketing field soon. However, Shane Bond feels Bumrah has bowled so much over a period of one month during the BGT last year and could get a fracture if he does the same in the upcoming Test series against England. Notably, India are scheduled to tour England for five Test matches that will be played from June 20 to August 4.
“He (Bumrah) had the [2023] surgery, but he played all that [Australia] Test series, performed unbelievably. At the end of the day, he just bowled too much over one month," Shane Bond in his conversion with ESPN Cricinfo. “And it hasn’t cracked, he hasn’t got a fracture, he is on the borderline of a fracture. But what India would have learned is, if you then look at a five-Test series in England and they do the same thing, they are probably going to get the same result."
MI look to get first win in IPL 2025 vs KKR
Talking about Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions didn’t get the start they wanted in IPL 2025. They lost their first two matches against Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans are currently standing at the 10th position in the points table.
Now, MI are set to play their first match of the season at their home ground as they will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium on March 31. The Hardik Pandya-led side will be looking to defeat KKR to get their first win in IPL 2025.
