Gujarat Titans being the table toppers in IPL 2023, still haven't confirmed their spot officially in the playoffs. Gujarat Titans faced a loss in their recent match against Mumbai Indians due to Suryakumar Yadav's unbelievable hitting with the bat, who went on to score an unbeaten 103 from 49 balls. 

Now the question for all fans is, can GT get eliminated as they haven't officially qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2023?

Here we will see how they can get eliminated if they stay at only 16 points.

GT remaining schedule in IPL 2023:
vs SRH in Ahmedabad, 15th May
vs RCB in Bengaluru, 21st May

If GT loses both remaining matches against SRH and RCB, then GT will stay at 16 points.

Teams that can reach (or) go ahead of the 16-point mark in the IPL points table - CSK, MI, RR, LSG, RCB, PBKS & SRH.

Teams that can reach a minimum of 16 points can only give competition for GT in playoff spots, so we take that as threshold criteria.

Now CSK & LSG can reach a maximum of 19 points and 17 points. MI can get a maximum of 18 points in the table, but MI and LSG face each other on 16th May 2023, so if that happens, LSG can't get 17 points, so we assume MI ends at 16 points.

If MI ends at 18 points, LSG can get only 15 points (lesser than 16), so we consider LSG to beat MI.

If CSK and LSG go on to win their remaining games, then GT (staying at 16 points) will not play qualifier-1 of IPL 2023.

We assume MI to win their remaining game against SRH to reach 16 points in IPL 2023.

Other teams like RR, RCB & PBKS can reach 16 points in IPL 2023. 

RR and RCB will face each other on 14th May 2023, so only one of the two teams can reach 16 points in IPL 2023.

RR and PBKS will face each other on 19th May 2023, so only one of the two teams can reach 16 points in IPL 2023.

Among RR, RCB & PBKS, if we see RR, has a better NRR, so they can give tough competition for GT if they reach 16 points.

GT can get eliminated if 

- CSK wins atleast one of their remaining games against KKR (or) DC
- LSG win their remaining games against SRH, MI & KKR
 - MI lose to LSG and beat SRH
 - RR win their remaining games against RCB & PBKS

CSK - 17/19
LSG - 17
RR - 16
MI - 16
GT - 16

If, GT loses their next two games by a very big margin then their NRR can go below both RR & MI which may eliminate them from IPL 2023 playoffs.
