During the second semi-final of the FIH Olympic Qualifiers, India's women’s hockey team suffered a tough loss against Germany by 4-3 in the penalty shootout after a full-time score read 2-2. A win would have secured India a spot at the Paris 2024, but the loss has put them in a difficult place to reach the multi-sporting international event.

The FIH Olympic Qualifiers, which is currently ongoing at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Hockey Stadium in Ranchi, will have three teams qualifying through to the Paris Olympics in the summer of 2024. Apart from Germany’s win against India in the second semi-final of the tournament, the United States of America also secured a victory by 1-0 in the first semi-final, which happened earlier in the day, to reach Paris 2024 alongside them.
