The whole nation was taken aback by a piece of news that came on Sunday afternoon. Former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry was on Sunday killed in a road accident after his car hit a divider in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. According to the police, the car, a Mercedes crashed into a divider near Charoti on a bridge around 3.15 pm. There were a total of four people travelling in that car. 

While two people including Cyrus Mistry died on the spot, the two injured were shifted to a hospital nearby. The other deceased person has been identified as Jahangir Binshah Pandole. Meanwhile, the two injured have been identified as Anahita Pandole, a top doctor at Breach Candy Hospital, and Darius Pandole, the managing director and CEO of JM Financial Private Equity. 

Reportedly, Mistry was travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai and it was Anahita Pandole who was driving the car. The police said that the cause of the accident was overspeeding. “Anahita Pandole was driving the car. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of overspeeding and she lost control over the wheel. We are investigating the matter,” Palghar Superintendent of Police (SP) Balasaheb Patil was quoted saying by the Indian Express.

With such horrible news coming, everyone started sharing their thoughts and mourned the sudden demise of one of the humblest personalities in the Indian business industry. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared his thoughts. 

“The untimely demise of Shri Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess. His passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry. Condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace,” tweeted PM Modi.

A few faces from the sports industry also joined and mourned the unfortunate incident. Former India women’s captain Mithali Raj shared paid her deepest condolences to the family. Meanwhile, cricket analyst cum commentator Harsha Bhogle said he could not believe that Mistry is gone.
