On Friday, December 29, Real Madrid announced that they had agreed with Carlo Ancelotti to extend his managerial contract until June 30, 2026. With that, the Spanish giants have put an end to the rumours about the 64-year-old leaving the club for Brazil's national football team after his previous deal was due to expire in the summer of 2024.
In 2021, Carlo Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid in his second coming, leading them to the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League double in his first season in charge. Although the previous season wasn’t this successful for Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid, the Galacticos have kept faith in him to lead them for the next couple of years.

The official club statement on the website about the new development read, “Real Madrid C. F. and Carlo Ancelotti have agreed to extend our coach's contract until 30 June 2026. In his five seasons as Real Madrid coach, he has won 10 trophies: 2 Champions League titles, 2 Club World Cups, 2 Uefa Super Cups, 1 La Liga title, 2 Copa de Rey trophies and 1 Spanish Super Cup.”
“Carlo Ancelotti is the only manager to have lifted four European Cups and is the coach with the most victories in the history of this competition (118), and he is also the first manager to win the five major European leagues (Italy, England, France, Germany and Spain),” it concluded.
Real Madrid return to training on December 29 after Christmas break
The La Liga leaders Real Madrid returned to training behind closed doors on Friday, December 29, after enjoying their much-deserved Christmas break. They are set to resume their 2023-24 league campaign with the matchday 19 fixture against Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, January 3.
