Cricket is a funny game- say the experts. But it’s not literal. This quote is generally used when something unexpected happens within the game. However, European cricket players are making the quote literal with their on-field antics. There are quite a decent number of clips on the internet that show how funny the game of European cricket can be. While sometimes the batter hits their partner in anger, sometimes the ball deflects off the bowler’s head to hit the stumps and find the batter short of his crease.
But the latest clip has something unique. While generally people on the field are involved in any kind of event taking place in the game, this latest clip shows how commentators too can make things happen on the cricket field. A clip from a match in the European cricket league is going viral on social media wherein a series of comedy of errors takes place.
The video starts with the batter hitting the ball towards the long-off fielder who fumbles a bit, allowing the batters to sneak in two runs. The fielder then throws the ball towards the non-striker’s end but it’s wayward, resulting in another quick run. The backup fielder too errs as he throws the ball over the heads of his teammates. The batters sense another run and successfully complete it.
The ball goes back to the long-off fielder who is a bit lazy in picking the ball and throwing it back. Meanwhile, the commentators on air encourage the batters to sneak in another run. The batters too oblige but only to see one of them getting run out. The commentators then curse themselves for screaming too loud and putting in the idea of sneaking another run.
