With even less than one week remaining before the start of Archery World Cup in Florida, a total six Indian archers still haven’t got visa clearance along with three support staff members. The tournament is set to start on April 8 and Indian archers are still waiting for the visa. Reacting to this, Olympian Dhiraj Bommadevara took to X, asking the Indian government to look into the matter and also tagged External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
“Despite multiple follow-ups &efforts,we couldn’t secure a visa appointment due 2system error, which is now forcing us 2 miss d tournament. It’s frustrating to see technical issues affecting our participation.@USAndIndia @DrSJaishankar @khadseraksha —this needs urgent attention!” Dhiraj wrote on his X post.
We are on the verge of missing the upcoming World Cup event: Archery Association of India
With only a few only days left for the event, Indian Archery team could miss the upcoming World Cup in Florida if they don’t get their visas on time. Archery Association of India (AAI) also shared a post on Instagram where they revealed that 16 members of the team are facing unforeseen issues due to system errors.
"Regrettably, despite our relentless efforts and multiple follow-ups over the past 40 days, the Indian Archery team is still facing significant challenges in securing a US visa appointment due to unforeseen system issues,” AAI wrote on Instagram.
“As a consequence, we are on the verge of missing the upcoming World Cup event, which would severely impact our participation and competitive prospects. Immediate intervention is imperative to resolve this issue and prevent a potential setback for our team,” the post further said.

Recurve men: Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das and Parth Sushant Salunkhe.
Recurve women: Ankita Bhakat, Deepika Kumari, Simranjeet Kaur and Anshika Kumari.
Compound men: Abhishek Verma, Rishabh Yadav, Ojas Pravin Deotale and Uday Kamboj.
Compound women: Madhura Dhamangaonkar, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Taniparthi Chikitha and Aditi Swami.
