Cricket Australia (CA) on Tuesday, April 1 announced central contracts for the upcoming season, 2025-26. The list on contracted players included 23 cricketers with some getting into the list for the first time. It is to be noted that the MoU between CA and Australian Cricketers’ Association states that between 20 to 24 male players are eligible to be named in the central contracts.
However, there were three new additions to the upcoming cricketing calendar in the central contracts, in Sam Konstas, Matthew Kuhnemann and all-rounder Beau Webster, with majority of the mainstays retaining their place.
Sam Konstas, Matt Kuhemann, Beau Webster included in CA central contracts for 2025-26
Speaking of the trio, Kuhnemann was adjudged the Player of the Series in Australia’s Test series win against Sri Lanka, scaloing 16 wickets in two Tests. On the other hand, Konstas made some sensational start to his Test career after he made his debut in the BGT 2024-25. Speaking of Webster, the Aussie all-rounder also made his debut in BGT 2024-25 and impressed with a 50 in the first game.
Apart from them, Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green, both of whom are recovering from injuries, have retained their place. Senior players like Steven Smith, Usman Khawaja and Nathan Lyon have also been in the mix as Australia looks in a smooth transition phase.
