On Wednesday, August 21, in a massive announcement, Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the greatest footballers of all time, joined YouTube with a channel titled “UR.” Within just an hour and a half after launching his channel on YouTube, the Portuguese footballing superstar became the fastest to one million subscribers on the platform in its entire history.
Notably, with a massive fanbase of more than 900 million followers across various social media platforms, Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most sought-after sportsmen in history. But despite that, it was rumoured that he wasn’t allowed to create a channel on YouTube due to the potential high number of subscribers putting strain on the finances of the platform.
But in the summer of 2024, Cristiano Ronaldo has finally joined YouTube, opening a new avenue for his fans to support him. In his official post on the X account, he wrote, “The wait is over. My @YouTube channel is finally here! SIUUUbscribe and join me on this new journey,” coupled with the link to his YouTube channel.
In the short clip, he also said, “I am very happy to make this project come to life. It has been in my mind for a long time, but finally, we have the opportunity to make it real.”
The initial response to the YouTube channel of Cristiano Ronaldo has been overwhelmingly positive, with millions of fans subscribing to it as we speak. After becoming the fastest YouTube channel to one million subscribers, it has gone past three million subscribers in just three hours.
