Chennai Super Kings continued their winning form at home after registering a landslide 63-run victory over Gujarat Titans. With this result, the Yellow Army registered their first league-stage win over the 2022 Champions in IPL history. This also was Chennai's third straight win over Gujarat as the Super Ki ngs won the IPL 2023 Qualifier 1 and the Final before losing this fixture.
Gujarat Titans won the toss and asked Chennai to bat first, who had a blistering start with Rachin Ravindra and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ravindra got out after a 20-ball 46 and CSK then lost Ajinkya Rahane in quick succession. But Shivam Dube, performing his role of destroying spin attacks, took the likes of Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore to continue Chennai's high-scoring momentum.
Gaikwad held one end before getting out at 46 in 36 balls as Dube continued his stunning form to post a 23-ball 51 as CSK went to post 206 runs in the first inning. Cameos from Sameer Rizvi and Ravindra Jadeja also helped set up this massive target.
Carrying this momentum in the second innings, CSK evaded Gujarat's opening rush and reduced the 2023 finalists to 55-3 in 7.3 overs. Deepak Chahar was in-form as he dismissed Titans' captain Shubman Gill which turned the tide in CSK's favour.
Soon other batters also failed to find boundaries succumbed to the pressure and lost wickets at regular intervals. Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande picked up two wickets each as CSK demolished GT to register a dominant 63-run win.
