India had a terrible outing against England in their semifinal clash. The Men in Blue lost the match by ten wickets as they failed to defend 168. India failed to dismiss any of the English batters as Jos Buttler and Alex Hales stitched an unbeaten opening partnership of 180 runs. With this defeat, India bowed out of the T20 World Cup 2022 and their quest to end the 15-year wait for a T20 World Cup title also ended.
As the Men in Blue yet again failed to break the knockout jinx, all-rounder Hardik Pandya was left disappointed. Pandya shared a post on social media after the defeat and expressed his feelings about the loss as well as the entire campaign. The India all-rounder said that he feels devastated, hurt, and gutted.
"Devastated, gutted, hurt. Tough to take, for all of us. To my teammates, I've enjoyed the bond that we built - we fought for each other every step of the way. Thank you to our support staff for their endless dedication and hardwork for months on end," tweeted Pandya. "To our fans who backed us everywhere we went, we're forever grateful. It wasn't meant to be but we'll reflect and keep fighting," he added in another tweet.
Hardik had a decent T20 World Cup 2022 as he was among the runs as well as wickets. Pandya scored 128 runs at an average of 25.60 including a terrific half-century against England in the semifinal. Pandya scored a 33-ball 63 to power India to 168/6 in their 20 overs. Had he gotten out early, India would not have even crossed 140. Pandya also scalped eight wickets in the six games he played.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli scored the most runs for the team (296) with the help of four half-centuries. Arshdeep Singh was the leading wicket-taker for the team with 10 wickets in six games.
