Dewald Brevis, the South African international, who is just 21 years of age, has been signed by Hampshire for the upcoming summer of cricket in England, which will begin at the start of next month. The young sensation will be playing in the T20 Blast for Hampshire apart from taking part in a couple of County Championship matches when the aforementioned domestic 20-over tournament goes on a break in the upcoming 2025 season.

As per the report from ESPNcricinfo, Dewald Brevis will be joining his fellow South African Lhuan-dre Pretorius, 19, who made a big name for himself in the recently concluded SA20 in the Rainbow Nation. With that, Hampshire have two of the brightest young talents with the ability to attack the bowlers from the get-go at the top of the order, which is going to bolster their chances of making the T20 Blast finals day this year.

I'm hugely excited about joining Hampshire Hawks for the Vitality Blast this summer: Dewald Brevis

Notably, Dewald Brevis made his debut for South Africa in T20 cricket in 2023, but after playing a couple of matches, he has been on the sidelines for more than 18 months. Since then, the right-handed batter has made a big splash in some of the franchise leagues all over the world including the IPL, MLC, and CPL, while in the SA20 2025, he scored 291 runs at a strike-rate of 184.17, to help MI Cape Town win the coveted title.

In his statement about joining Hampshire, Dewald Brevis sounded quite happy and looked forward to the prospect of playing some cricket in England this summer. He was quoted as saying, as per ESPNcricinfo, “I'm hugely excited about joining Hampshire Hawks for the Vitality Blast this summer, the team has a great history in the competition, and I look forward to being a part of that.”

“It's great we have Lhuan-dre with us as well and hopefully we can put on a good show and entertain the crowd at Utilita Bowl on our way to reaching Finals Day and lifting the trophy. I'm also looking forward to playing in the County Championship, the team were so close last year, and I hope I can help the club push for the title in 2025,” he added.
