Social media influencer and wife of Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, Dhanashree Verma took to Instagram and share cryptic posts expressing her displeasure with the leg-spinner’s omission from the Indian Asia Cup 2023 squad. In a press conference held in Delhi on August 21, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Indian chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced a 17-member squad for the continental tournament without Chahal.

In the bowling department, selectors included the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav as the three spinners. After the squad’s announcement, Dhanashree Verma shared an Instagram story questioning the importance of being extroverted to ensure being successful in one’s field. Further, she posted another story and expressed gratitude towards living a fruitful life.
Verma’s Instagram story said, “Now I have started to question this on a serious note. If being super submissive & introverted can be harmful for your work growth? Or do we all have to be an extrovert & street smart savvy to grow in life?"

Addressing Chahal’s omission, Ajit Agarkar talked about how Axar Patel’s batting ability and Kuldeep Yadav’s current form led to their selection over the leg spinner. “Axar Patel has done really well. He can bat too. Kuldeep Yadav has had a fantastic run to this point. So someone had to miss out. Kuldeep is currently a little ahead of him (Chahal),” Agarkar said in the press conference.
