As one of India's greatest captains MS Dhoni celebrates his 42nd birthday, an old quote about his financial ambitions has resurfaced. This development was shared by Indian batter Wasim Jaffer, who talked about how Dhoni only wanted to earn INR 30 lakhs and then peacefully retire.

Today, Dhoni is one of the biggest athletes in the world and has a net worth north of INR 1000 crores. Talking about Jaffer's comment, the former Mumbai batter Jaffer was chatting on his Twitter handle to a query from a fan in 2020 and had posted, “In his 1st or 2nd year in Indian team, I remember he said, he wants to make INR 30 lakhs from playing cricket so he can live peacefully rest of his life in Ranchi.”

Coming back to MS Dhoni, the 2011 World Cup winner has had an incredible 2023 so far as he led Chennai Super Kings to their fifth IPL title. Dhoni, hampered by injuries throughout the 2023 season, played a limited role as he scored 104 runs in 16 games with a strike rate of 182.45.
