Indian wicket keeper-batter KL Rahul created a stir with his story which spread like a wildfire on Thursday, August 22. Rahul, popular for his finesse and calm demeanour, found himself at the centre of a speculation. Rahul caused a sensation in the cricketing world with a cryptic social media post. The post left fans considering whether the 32-year-old has decided to hang up his gloves. 

The viral Instagram story read, "After much reflection and consideration, I have decided to announce my retirement from professional cricket. This decision has not been easy, as the sport has been a significant part of my life for many years. I am deeply grateful for the support and encouragement from my family, friends, teammates, and fans throughout my career. The experiences and memories I have gained on and off the field are truly invaluable. I am honoured to have represented my country and played alongside so many talented individuals.”

While the post left fans in a state of shock, it has been learnt that the post was fake and Rahul has not announced his retirement. After the post that claimed to be from the cricketer's Instagram account, fans rushed to his account but the post was nowhere to be seen. The cricketer had only posted one story which read, “I have an announcement to make, stay tuned.” It was followed by a story wherein the cricketer wished his mother-in-law a happy birthday. 

Notably, Rahul is gearing up for the upcoming first round of Duleep Trophy which starts from September 5. The Lucknow Super Giants captain in the IPL will be a part of Team A which will be led by Shubman Gill.
