India batter Suryakumar Yadav opened up on team India’s ODI World Cup 2023 final loss against Australia. The batter stated that he was disappointed but was proud of the kind of cricket the team played throughout the tournament. After an unexpected and disheartening end to their World Cup 2023 campaign, India is set to lock horns with Australia in a five-match T20I series. Yadav has received the captaincy call for his side in the series against the Aussies.
The five-match series will be played across India and is set to commence on November 23, Thursday. Ahead of the series, Yadav addressed a press conference where he opened up on the defeat that could have crowned India the world champions for the third time. Addressing the media ahead of the first T20I in Visakhapatnam, he said that the entire team was disappointed but he was pleased with the cricket they played throughout the tournament.
Yadav said, “It is a little disappointing, obviously. At the end, when you look back at the journey, it was a really great campaign. Every member, not only the players, all of India were very proud of the way we displayed our talent on the ground. That was the positive, the brand of cricket that we played throughout the tournament. And we are really proud of that.”
Notably, the Men in Blue remained undefeated throughout the tournament but ended up losing the final clash against Australia on November 19. Speaking of the forthcoming clash, while the first match will be played in Vizag, action will move to Thiruvananthapuram for the second game.
