In match number 19 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad will host the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, April 6. Both teams are coming into this match on the back of contrasting results as the Shubman Gill-led GT reigned victorious over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), SRH are on a three-match losing streak after their only win in this season has come against Rajasthan Royals.
While the hosts will aim to overturn their recent results in the IPL 2025 as they take on GT tonight, Vikram Solanki, the Director of Cricket Operations at GT also heaped praise of the team. The member of the support staff at GT, Solanki also shunned the critics for hitting out at star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj, who had a torrid start to the season.
It’s exactly the role he's been playing: Solanki on Siraj
Speaking at the pre-match press conference in Hyderabad, Vikram Solanki shut the critics for judging Siraj so early in the tournament. “(It has been) exactly the role he's been playing, to be honest with you. He's a fine bowler. It's unfair to say things that haven't been going well for him. He has performed outstandingly well when he has been given the opportunity,” Solanki said.
“Sometimes we expect and ask a lot of young cricketers and somebody that has achieved as much as Siraj has. Sometimes we're very quick to judge one or two performances, but he has been exceptional certainly since he has joined us," the Director of Cricket Operations further added.
Speaking particularly of Siraj, the Indian pacer finished with the figures of 0/54 in his four-over spell against Punjab Kings. The 31-year-old has so far taken five wickets from three games at an economy of 8.91 and is just two wickets shy of reaching 100-wicket landmark in the cash-rich league. The Titans, on the other hand are placed third in the IPL 2025 points table woth two wins and four points under their belt.
