Renowned businessman and CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk has shown interest in buying Premier League club Liverpool as revealed by his father Errol Musk. In his latest interview with Times Radio, Errol Musk said that his son is interested in taking an ownership of six-time European Cup champions which are currently owned by Fenway Sports Group (FSG). However, the current owners haven’t shown any desire to transfer the ownership and the club also hasn’t made any statement regarding this.
In his interview, Errol Musk said that his son Elon would love to buy Liverpool football club, but no deal is taking place currently. “Oh yes, but that doesn’t mean he’s buying it,” Errol Musk was quoted as saying by NewsX when was aksed about possibility of Elon buying her club. He would like to, yes, obviously, anybody would want to. So would I. They’ll raise the price.”
There is no truth: FSG denies report of selling Liverpool club
With the reports of Elon Musk showing interest in buying Liverpool, the current club owners FSG denied the rumours claiming that they have no interest in selling the club. An spokesperson from that company was quoted as saying “There is no truth to these rumors,” when was asked about selling the club to Elon Musk. Notably, FSG sold majority stake of the club US investment firm Dynasty Equity in 2023.
FSG President Mike Gordon also indicated that they are looking for new partners to share the ownership for Liverpool. “Our long-term commitment to Liverpool remains as strong as ever. We have always said that if there is an investment partner that is right for Liverpool then we would pursue the opportunity to help ensure the club’s long-term financial resiliency and future growth,” Gordon was quoted as saying by FirstPost.
