In return, England went all guns blazing and posted a whopping total of 8237 before declaring the innings.
In the second innings, the hosts could only score 220 runs, and recorded a record-making defeat. The Shan Masood-left side became the first team in the history of the game to lose a Test by innings after scoring more than 500 runs in the first innings. In the 147-year-old history of the red-ball format, no team has ever suffered a defeat of such magnitude.
