India and Australia are set to lock horns in the biggest Test clash of the year, World Test Championship Final 2023, commencing on June 7, at The Oval in Kennington, London. The one-match clash at the neutral venue won’t really be advantageous to either of the teams. However, Australia will surely have a sense of familiarity with the conditions as the pitch offers more bounce than other grounds in the UK. On Tuesday, Karthik shared the pictures of the grassy pitch and a fan seemingly trolled the Indian cricketer, who came up with a fitting response.
The images of the pitch have been doing rounds on social media, with veteran India batter Dinesh Karthik being one of the first to share the images of the lush green pitch asking fans about their opinion. Karthik posted two pictures of the pitch, wherein there was a difference of 3mm in the length of the grass.
Reacting to the greenness of the surface, one of the fans called the pitch garden and suggested the Royal Challengers Bangalore wicketkeeper secretly cut off the grass at night. In return, Karthik came up with a hilarious reply. Karthik asked, "The pitch is ready for the WTC Final! A little browner as the grass is 6mm today compared to 9mm today. What would you choose if you win the toss?"
Reacting to this tweet, a fan asked Karthik to cut off the grass secretly, to which the wicketkeeper being his witty self-gave an epic reply and said, “The resume is already heavy with many roles 🙈😂,” referring to his roles of a cricketer, expert, and commentator.
Generally batting on the second and third day on almost all grounds of England gets easier. Ahead of the clash, Ravichandran Ashwin was also seen checking the pitch laid out for the final. Speaking of their rivalry in the WTC cycle 2021-2023, the only series that Australia lost was the last they played in the Indian subcontinent where they slumped to a 2-1 defeat against the hosts.
