India achieved a new world record on day four of the second Test against Bangladesh at the Green Park in Kanpur,  scoring the fastest 250 in an innings in the history of Test cricket. Coming to bat after bowling Bangladesh out for 233 runs, India declared their first innings on 285/9, to take a 52-run lead. Earlier, the Indian batters got off to a flying start in the first innings as Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed three fours in the first over by Hasan Mahmud. After that, skipper Rohit Sharma also started his innings with a six on the first ball of the second over. The opening pair put up an opening partnership of 55 runs in just 3.5 overs.

After the fall of Rohit Sharma's wicket, Yashasvi Jaiswal took charge of the innings, and got out after a well-made 72(51) runs. After that, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul added 87 runs for the fifth wicket. Kohli got out after scoring 47 runs off 35 balls, hitting four fours and a six. On the other hand, KL Rahul came up with his 14th Test fifty, scoring 68 runs off 43 balls with seven four and two sixes. India were on 285/9, before Rohit Sharma decided to call off the innings with a lead of 52 runs. Coming to bat in the innings, Bangladesh have scored 26/2 by the end of day four, trailing by 26 runs.

Along with scoring the fastest 50, India also reached the fastest 100, the fastest 150, the fastest 200, and the fastest 250 by a team in an innings in a Test match. With India’s sensational batting display on day four, fans started comparing it with Bazball. Notably, Bazball is an aggressive style of bating in Test cricket which came in limelight after Brendon McCullum became coach of the England Test team, changing the face of batting in the longest format.

India posted 285 runs in just 34.4 overs in their first innings at a run rate of 8.22, which is the highest by any team in the history of Test cricket. After India’s solid batting performance on day four, the fans come up with new term "Gamball," comparing it with Bazball employed by England. The term Gamball can be looked upon as the forward-thinking style of batting under India’s new head coach Gautam Gambhir.
