Their campaign, unfortunately, met an end in the semi-final, where they lost against arch-rivals England 3-1.
Sweden had straight wins against South Africa, Italy, and Argentina, with an impressive goal difference of eight goals. In the round of 16, the Swedish women triumphed over the US in a game that went down to penalties. They extended their winning run in the quarter-final too, as they beat Japan 2-1. In the semi-final, however, they bowed out in front of Spain 2-1.
