Former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff was rushed to the hospital following a car accident on the sets of Top Gear. The former skipper who was filming an episode for the BBC show Top Gear suffered an accident on Monday at the Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey.
However, it was later revealed that the injuries suffered are not life-threatening. The 45-year-old required immediate medical attention following the unfortunate accident at one of the shows’ Test tracks.
“Freddie was injured in an accident at the Top Gear test track this morning - wit crew medics attending the scene immediately. He has been taken to the hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course,” BBC said in a statement.
The Sun also released a statement on former cricketer’s injury and confirmed that the injuries are “not life-threatening”. “All the usual health and safety measures were in place for filming too. Freddie was taken to the hospital by air ambulance shortly afterward. Filming has been postponed for now and all anyone cares about is Freddie recovering,” a source told The Sun.
The former England cricketer retired from the game in 2010 and has been a regular in television realty shows since then. He joined BBCI sports show Top Gear as host in 2019. In 2019 also, Flintoff was involved in another car accident while filming for the same show at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire. Driving at a speed of 125kmph, the cricketer fortunately came out of without any injuries. In the same year, he was also involved in another accident in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
