After suffering two consecutive losses in the first three games of IPL 2025, many can argue that this is one of the worst starts to the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings. With criticism and scrutiny surrounding many players of the franchise, a lot of ex-cricketers and cricket pundits have voiced their opinions about the problems in the current CSK side and its potential solutions. And the latest addition to the list is former Indian batter Kris Srikkanth. Srikkanth, who is known for his outspoken analysis, believes CSK needs to make crucial adjustments in both their batting lineup and bowling strategy to enhance their performance.

Much of Srikkanth's criticism was focused on the treatment of veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. He has advised against using Ashwin in the Powerplay overs, instead recommending that he be brought into the fray after the 7th over and bowl till the 18th over. According to Srikkanth, Ashwin would be more effective in the middle overs when accompanied by fellow spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Noor Ahmad. One of Srikkanth's key recommendations is also regarding CSK's opening order.

Srikkanth advises CSK to bank on Devon Conway’s experience

He has called for including Devon Conway in the place of Jamie Overton, suggesting that Conway's experience and consistency would bring solidity to the batting department. Additionally, he recommended including Anshul Kamboj in the playing XI while dropping Rahul Tripathi to balance the squad better. Srikkanth also laid stress on providing opportunities for uncapped players.

He suggested including Shivam Dube in the playing XI and using Andre Siddarth as an Impact Player. Apart from that, he stated Mukesh Choudhary as a solid pick, suggesting his previous performances for CSK as a reason for choosing him. With CSK gearing up to take on the Delhi Capitals on 5th April at the Chepauk, it will be interesting to see what changes are made to the team selection and how this affect the team’s results.
