Formula 1 announced its multi-year extension with the Belgian Grand Prix, which will see the race at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in four of next six years. The deal extension includes Grand Prix races in four seasons including 2026, 2027, 2029 and 2031 seasons. However, it will drop off the F1 calendar in 2028 and 2030 as part of the deal. Notably, this year’s grand prix is already confirmed for July 27, and will also feature a Saturday sprint.
Since the venue won’t be a part in 2028 and 2030 seasons, the alternate venues for those seasons are yet to be confirmed. Imola in Italy and the current Spanish Grand Prix circuit outside Barcelona face uncertain futures. Coming back to the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the circuit saw the inclusion of two new grandstands, which increased its capacity by 10,000. Not only this, but there was also enhancement of the off-track entertainment to add value to the fan experience.
