Fans were eagerly waiting on Monday for clock to strike 2 as legendary cricketer MS Dhoni was due to announce something big in a press conference. However, the suspense soon ended as it turned out to be an ad promotion for Cadbury’s Oreo cookies. While many speculated Dhoni’s retirement, the fans took a sigh of relief when it was revealed as a marketing gimmick for Oreo.
In the advertisement, a journalist invited Dhoni on stage and told him that India had lifted the World Cup in 2011, when the biscuit brand was launched. The former Indian skipper said that since there is a World Cup this year, he is launching the brand once again.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Monday posted a cute video of himself playing with his daughters and dogs. Gautam Gambhir can be seen calling one of his dogs as Oreo. However, one Twitter user claimed that the video of Gambhir posting a video with his dog Oreo in it was a dig at MS Dhoni, who in the ad said that India won World Cup 2011 when Oreo was launched in India and and therefore he is launching the biscuit again so that India can win the World Cup again this year.
"This year we have one more World Cup. And if the biscuit brand can launch again, then India can win the Cup again," said MS Dhoni.
“Gautam Gambhir Uploaded A Video On Instagram Calling His Dog Name Oreo. He Uploaded This Video After MS Dhoni Gave Credit To Oreo For Winning The 2011 World Cup”, tweeted the user.
Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir is currently playing in Legends League Cricket where is he is leading the India Capitals side.
