The Indian cricket team hasn’t had great outing in the recent past, raising several eyebrows. While the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph came just at the right moment for the Men in Blue, which ended their 11-year wait of an ICC trophy, the results haven’t favoured them much thereafter, leading to back-to-back series defeat in Test cricket.
However, it’s not only Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s performance which has come under scrutiny, former India cricketer turned head coach Gautam Gambhir is also facing backlash from all corners. The latest to speak on the same is former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif, who has also urged Gambhir to learn from his mistakes from the past.
Mohammad Kaif shares piece of advice for Gautam Gambhir; gives reference of Rahul Dravid
Speaking during an Instagram live session, the former Indian cricketer shared a piece of advice for the Indian coach Gautam Gambhir. It is to be noted that the results haven’t gone their way under the coaching of Gautam Gambhir, hinting that a make-or-break result in the Champions Trophy might lead BCCI to stake a strigent step.
Sharing an example of Gambhir’s predecessor Rahul Dravid, Kaif said, "Gautam Gambhir should learn from the mistakes he has made. Just like Rahul Dravid, who didn't win any IPL trophy but corrected his mistakes from that stint and spearheaded the team to victory in the T20 World Cup. Gambhir will also have to learn the same way."
The Men in Blue will aim to kickstart all fresh with the upcoming England series, which is set to be played from January 22 onwards. The T20 World Champions will first take on The Three Lions in a five-match T20I series, followed by three ODIs, starting from February 6 in Nagpur.
