Giannis Antetokounmpo, the 2021 NBA champion, has added another significant investment to his impressive resume by becoming a part-owner of the Los Angeles Golf Club.  Antetokounmpo and his brothers, Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex, have invested in the Los Angeles Golf Club, one of the six teams that will compete in the Tiger Woods Golf League (TGL), a new high-tech golf league founded by the legendary golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

The basketball player already has significant investments in MLB and MLS teams, which have been quite successful. In 2021, Gianis purchased an undisclosed stake in the Milwaukee Brewers in the MLB. The Bucks forward improved his portfolio earlier this year when he acquired a stake in Major League Soccer (MLS) club Nashville SC alongside his brothers. He also attended Nashville’s Leagues Cup final against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.

The family investment was an homage to their late father, Charles, who played professionally in Nigeria and Germany.  Now, the 2021 Finals MVP has further added another team and sport to his portfolio with the LA Golf Club. Giannis announced his new investment on Twitter, where he posted a small trailer for the team featuring Giannis himself.

Tennis legend Serena Williams earlier announced the inaugural team of the Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC). Williams formed the initial investment group of the LA Golf Club team with her sister Venus Williams and Seven Seven Six’s (776) founder Alexis Ohanian. The inaugural season of the TGL is set to take place in January next year.
