Indian chess superstars GM Gukesh Dommaraju and IM Divya Deshmukh will headline the Indian squad for the upcoming Chess Olympiad 2024. The 45th edition of the Chess Olympiad will take place in Budapest, Hungary from September 10 to September 24.
India hosted the previous edition of the Olympiad for the first time in 2022. In that tournament , the hosts settled for the bronze medal in both the Open and Women’s categories. All India Chess Federation President Nitin Narang confirmed the squads and revealed that the board gearing up for a pre-tournament camp. As per PTI, Narang said, “Camp is scheduled in the end of August. The venue and date will be finalized soon.”

Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa have had some major results in 2024 and will be India's strongest contenders at the Olympiad. The men's contingent also includes Grand Masters Arjun Erigaisi, Vidith Gujrathi and Harikrishna Pentala. In the women’s department, Vaishali Rameshbabu, Divya Deshmukh, Vantika Agrawal, Harika Dronavalli and Tania Sachdev will represent the Indian Tri-Colour at the 2024 Chess Olympiad.
