Kylian Mbappe’s French teammate Ibrahima Konate expressed his concern for him amid the ongoing criticism that he has been facing ever since moving to Real Madrid. Notably, Mbappe completed a summer transfer from Paris Saint Germain to Real Madrid, but he has been facing some challenges. The 25-year-old has scored seven goals in 11 matches, and has been at the receiving end of heavy criticism due to his decision to skip League matches against Israel and Belgium.
Amid the ongoing scenario, Mbappe’s French teammate and Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate expressed his concern for the young footballer and said that the pressure could be weighing heavily on Mbappe. During one of the matches, Mbappe was booed while entering Lille’s home ground during the Champions League match.
Ibrahima Konate expresses concern for Kylian Mbappe
Konate was speaking at a press conference ahead of the Nations League match, where he expressed his concern and said that Mbappe may have a psychological breakdown. Konate said, "Sometimes I put myself in his shoes, and if I had all this hype around me, I don't know if I would have held on. He managed to do it and he continues to do it. He may have a psychological breakdown in his life, I have no idea, but I would like to discuss it with him.”
He added, “You have to put yourself in his shoes. Everything that revolves around him is... He has no life! He has no life! And it must be hard for him.” Konate went on to say, "I don't understand why he is being booed in Lille. When I played against Toulouse with Liverpool [in the Europa League last season], they gave me an exceptional welcome. The Liverpool players really thought that I had played with Toulouse in my career. I think he is over that, but it must not be easy to experience that in his country, it's weird all the same."
