English boxer Tyson Fury was defiant in his words after losing to Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch during the latest DAZN PPV in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. ‘The Gypsy King’ wasn’t able to win the WBO, WBA, and WBC Heavyweight Championships, following which, in a post-fight press conference, he remarked that Oleksandr Usyk didn’t hurt him once, but since he wasn’t able to knock him out, there was no guarantee of a win on the judges’ scorecard.

Notably, all the three judges scored the contest 118-112 in favour of Oleksandr Usyk, which was a comprehensive margin of victory for the champion despite the comments from the challenger afterwards about not being fully on board with the result. Tyson Fury was adamant in his belief that he won both of his last two fights against the Ukrainian, but he has to go home with two losses on the record instead.

When you don’t get the KO this is what happens, you can’t guarantee a win: Tyson Fury

It led to Tyson Fury remarking that a lot of people watching the fight had him a couple of rounds up regardless of the judges’ scorecards. He was quoted as saying, as per The Guardian, “I will believe till the day I die that I won that fight. I was aggressive, on the front foot all night, landing to the body and head. Frank Warren [his promoter] had me three or four rounds up. A lot of people had me at least two rounds up. But I’m not going to cry over spilled milk. I can’t change the decision. When you don’t get the KO this is what happens: you can’t guarantee a win.”

When Fury was asked about whether Usyk was the best boxer he had ever faced in his illustrious boxing career, he responded, “Not really to be fair. In that fight there, he never hurt me once.” Moreover, Frank Warren, the promoter of Tyson Fury, was quite surprised by the decision from the judges, and said, “I’m dumbfounded at how that scoring can be, it’s dreadful.”

Tyson Fury also got a question regarding his next opponent inside the boxing ring, to which he remarked, “Go home and have a good Christmas. I’ve been away 12 weeks working for this fight. I’m gonna go home now and enjoy it. We go home to a new year. Let’s see what it brings.”
