South Korea football team has suffered a big blow ahead of the FIFA World Cup after forward Heung-Min Son injured his eye during Tottenham’s game against Marseille on Tuesday. The Spurs star player has fractured his left eye socket, with a surgery confirmed to stabilise his injury.

Son jumped midway through the first half while trying to flick the high ball but was caught midway by Marseille’s Chancel Mbemba. He laid out on the ground and was later helped off the pitch with his vision hampered. 

Post this incident, the Spurs however confirmed on his surgery and rehabilitation which he will undergo after completing a surgery, but the team did not make a statement on his World Cup return as it depends on the rehabilitation.

Talking about the 2022 Qatar World Cup, South Korea are drawn in Group alongside Uruguay, Ghana and Portugal. They will kick off their FIFA World Cup campaign against Uruguay on November 24.
