The opening batter shone with a knock of 208(149) runs hitting 19 fours and nine sixes as India posted 249/8 on board. In reply, New Zealand were bowled out for 337 runs in 49.2 overs as India won the match by 12 runs.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has mastered the art of scoring daddy hundreds in one day cricket and comes ninth in the list of players with highest individual score in ODI cricket. In a match against Sri Lanka in Mohali on December 13, 2017, Rohit went on to smash his third ODI double ton and played a captain’s knock of 208*(153) runs hitting 13 fours and 12 sixes as India posted 392/4 in their 50 overs and went on to win the match by 141 runs. 

8. Rohit Sharma: 209 vs Australia in 2013

It’s Rohit Sharma again in the list of highest individual scores in ODI cricket for his maiden double hundred in the 50-over format for India. During the series decider of a seven-match ODI series against Australia in Bengaluru on November 2, 2013, Rohit became the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag to score a ODI double hundred. The opening batter smashed 209(158) runs hitting 12 fours and 16 sixes, as India posted 383/6 and went on to win the match by 57 runs.

Indian wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan smashed the fastest double hundred in ODI cricket in a match against Bangladesh in Chattogram on December 10, 2022. The left-hander reached the 200-run mark in just 126 balls and ended up scoring 210(131) runs with 24 fours and 10 sixes as India posted a mammoth 409/8 on board and went on to win the match by 227 runs. 

6. Pathum Nissanka: 210* vs Afghanistan in 2024

Pathum Nissanka smashed the highest individual ODI score for Sri Lanka in a match against Afghanistan in Pallekele on February 9, 2024. Batting first, Nissanka scored 210*(139) runs hitting 20 fours and eight sixes as Sri Lanka posted 381/3 in their 50 overs. In reply,  Afghanistan were restricted at 339/6 as Sri Lanka won the match by 42 runs.

Pakistani batter Fakhar Zaman went on to smash the highest individual ODI score for the country in a match against ZImbabwe in Bulawayo on July 20, 2018. Zaman scored 210*(156) runs hitting 24 fours and five sixes as Pakistan 399/1 in their 50 overs and went on to win the match by 244 runs.

Star West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle scored the first–ever double in the ODI World Cup during a league match against Zimbabwe in Canberra on February 24, 2015. The left-hander smashed 215(147) runs hitting 10 fours and 16 sixes as Windies posted 372/2 winning the match by 73 runs as per the DLS method.

After Sachin Tendulkar became the first batter to score 200 runs in an ODI innings, Virender Sehwag didn’t take much time to become the second batter in the list with his knock against West Indies in Indore on December 8, 2011. Taking charge as the skipper in that game, Sehwag smashed 219(149) runs hitting 25 fours and seven sixes as India posted their highest ODI total of 418/5 and went on to win the match by 153 runs.

During the quarter final against West Indies Wellington on March 21, 2015, Guptill smashed 237*(163) runs hitting 24 fours and 11 sixes as the Black Caps 393/6 and went on to win the match by 143 runs to enter the semifinal.
