Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is now the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After getting released from Delhi Capitals, Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping INR 27 Crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah on November 24. With this, he also surpassed Shreyas Iyer, who has been bought by Punjab Kings for INR 26.75 Crore in the same auction.
Lucknow Super Giants won the final bid for Rishabh Pant at INR 20.75 Crore, before Delhi Capitals applied for a right-to-match card for their former skipper. After that, LSG raised the bid to INR 27 Crore making Pant the most expensive buy in an IPL auction. However, the price tag of ₹27 Crore is just on the papers and the wicketkeeper-batter would get a lesser amount after all the tax deductions.
How much will Rishabh Pant earn after tax deductions in IPL 2025?
Rishabh Pant is now tagged as the costliest player in the IPL history and is set to play for a new franchise in the upcoming season. With this, the amount of INR 27 Crore by LSG also represents his yearly salary, as the players are paid for an entire season of the IPL. Apart from that, Rishabh Pant’s IPL salary will also remain INR 27 Crore for the next few years with LSG.
According to the regulations by the Indian government, Rishabh Pant will not get entire INR 27 Crore in hand and has to pay 30% of his annual IPL salary. According to this, total INR 8.1 Crore will be deducted from his IPL salary of INR 27 Crore. This means that the Indian wicketkeeper will get INR 18.9 Crore in hand in IPL 2025.
