Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo will be returning to Formula 1 at the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix as a replacement for Dutch Nyck de Vries at the AlphaTauri team for the rest of the season. After being a reserve driver for Red Bull,  Ricciardo was in action today at Silverstone, driving the RB19 car in a Pirelli tyre test.

Before returning to the Milton Keyes outfit this season,  Daniel Ricciardo was driving for Mclaren and had two difficult years with the British Manufacturer. Prior to  Mclaren,  Ricciardo drove for the then-Renault team after leaving Red Bull in  2019.

Reacting to his return to F1,  Ricciardo said,  “I am stoked to be back on track with the Red Bull family!” as he had an impressive showing in his Silverstone test.  Ricciardo will restart his F1 journey at the Hungaroring alongside Japanese  AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsonoda.

AlphaTauri Team Principal,  Franz Tost, expressed excitement about getting back Ricciardo into the fold. Tost said,  "I’m very pleased to welcome Daniel back into the team. There’s no doubt about his driving skills, and he already knows many of us, so his integration will be easy and straightforward. The team will also profit a lot from his experience, as he is an eight-time Formula 1 Grand Prix winner."
