In a big update, it is being reported that the Hyderabad Cricket Association has raised a concern regarding hosting ODI World Cup 2023 matches on the trot. Notably, this comes after the revised schedule saw Hyderabad host New Zealand vs Netherlands on October 9 and then staging Pakistan vs Sri Lanka on October 10.

With only a month and a half left for the marquee event and less than a week left for the tickets sale to commence, the HCA has written to the BCCI asking for a gap between the two games. It is to be further noted that the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match was earlier scheduled to take place on October 12, but was rescheduled to provide enough time between the fixtures for Pakistan after the India vs Pakistan clash was rescheduled to October 14, moving a day ahead as it clashed with the first day of Navratri.

The Hyderabad Police wrote of the security concerns regarding the lack of gap between the two games, especially the one between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Earlier, it was not only India vs Pakistan which saw the rescheduling due to security concerns regarding Navratri, the Pakistan vs England match, scheduled to be held on November 12 in Kolkata was also rescheduled to November 11 as it clashed with the Kali Puja.

The 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup will kick start on October 5 with defending champions England taking on New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Meanwhile, hosts India will begin their campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8.
