After a great start by Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli took charge. As Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer got out, Kohli stitched up an 83-run partnership with KL Rahul to help India clinch the win. In the process, Kohli also neared his century and hence he avoided a few singles to reach the milestone.

Addressing the duo's plan during the final moments of the chase, KL Rahul talked about how he denied Kohli those singles as he wanted his teammate to reach the milestone. Kohli also asked Rahul to continue scoring freely as he thought the outside world would call him out for playing for his milestone.

Responding to this concern, Rahul assured his former RCB teammate that the team was winning comfortably. Speaking in the post-match interview, Rahul said,  "I denied the single. Virat said it would be bad if you won’t take single, people will think playing for personal milestone but I said we are comfortably winning, you complete your century".
