FC Barcelona suffered a 0-1 defeat in their latest La Liga fixture against Real Sociedad at Reale Arena in San Sebastián on Monday, November 11. Barcelona were also missing the services of their right-winger Lamine Yamal as the club manager Hansi Flick decided to bench the 17-year-old due to a slight injury. Flick also showed concern on Yamal’s fitness and confirmed that he requested the Spanish footballer to not travel with the national team for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures.
Barcelona released an official statement where they confirmed that Lamine Yamal sustained a contusion during their UEFA Champions League fixture against Red Star Belgrade on November 7, and is still in discomfort despite undergoing a treatment. “Lamine Yamal sustained a severe contusion on Wednesday against Red Star. He has undergone treatment but the discomfort isn't gone yet completely. His recovery will determine his availability,” the club said in their official statement.

Lamine Yamal has established himself as one of the key players for FC Barcelona and the club missed his presence on the field as they ended up losing against Real Sociedad on Monday. Hansi Flick also showed concern on his injury and said that he is unsure of Yamine’s return to the field. The club has also requested the Spain national football team to not include the 17-year-old in their squad for the UEFA Nations League.
“We will miss now Lamine Yamal… I don’t know if he will return after the international break. We’ve asked for him not to travel to the national team," Hansi Flick was quoted as saying by Barca News Network. Barcelona are now scheduled to face Celta Vigo in their upcoming fixture of the La Liga at Estadio de Balaídos in Vigo on November 24.
