The 14-time Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal is reportedly making his last appearance at the Olympic Games. While it could be his last dance in his international career, Rafael Nadal on Saturday, dropped a big update on his singles participation, where he is set to face Hungary’s Marton Fucsovic on Sunday, July 28.

The 38-year-old, who is partnering Wimbledon 2024 champion and his countryman, Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s singles at the Paris 2024, dropped a big statement on his participation in Sunday’s match after the duo won their opening round, beating Argentinian pair of Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalex 7-6, 6-4 on Saturday, July 24.

“Tomorrow, I don’t know what’s is going to happen,” Nadal said as quoted by AP. “I don’t know if I’m going to play or not,” he further added. It is to be noted that ahead of the Paris Olympics, the Spaniard suffered a thigh injury which his coach confirmed about, but these recent comments from Nadal comes at a juncture with his participation in the singles match remaining doubtful.

Novak Djokovic enters Round 2; likely to face Rafael Nadal

The record 24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic had a winning start to his campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024. The top-seeded singles, who beat Australia’s Matthew Ebden 6-0, 6-1 in a match which lasted for 53 minutes, is likely to face Rafael Nadal, if he goes past the Hungarian challenge.

Moreover, the Serbian showed dissatisfaction and even queried why he found himself against a doubles specialist, who played his last singles match more than two years ago. “Look I really don’t understand the rules they’re a bit, really not logical for me,” he began. “If somebody withdraws or cancels before r when the draw is made then you call doubles players to play singles. I don’t think it’s a good image for sports, to be honest. There were a lot of singles players that had plenty of time, that were alternates, that could’ve been called to come,” he added.
