Virat Kohli, the former captain and star batsman of the Indian cricket team, has opened up about his preparation and motivation for the upcoming 2023 Asia Cup. The tournament, which will be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 14, will feature six teams: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Nepal.

Kohli said that he draws inspiration from his past successes and learnings. The former India captain said that he reflects on the moments when he performed at his best and analyzes the areas where he can improve after losses, and he also added that every setback becomes an opportunity for him to come back stronger.

Kohli has an incredible record in the Asia Cup, averaging 63.83 in the 16 matches he played in the Asia Cup (ODI format) with 766 runs. The top-order batsman also has 3 centuries and 2 half-centuries and in the T20I format of the Asia Cup, the former Indian captain has 153 runs in 5 matches with an average of 76.50.

Kohli also said that another important aspect he has learned is the “importance of self-belief and staying true to myself”.
