Former Team India skipper and batting stalwart Virat Kohli has been toiling hard ahead of the highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25. With the first Test of the five-match series merely days away from start, Virat Kohli was seen refusing to leave the nets despite rain in Perth.
According to several sources, Virat Kohli continued to practice and refused to leave the nets when rain halted the practice session on Tuesday, November 19 at the WACA Stadium in Perth. The session was meant to be a routine training day, but Kohli, who is having a lean patch in Test cricket especially so far, ensured to make the most of it.
Virat Kohli trains despite rain halts practice session: Reports
A renowned sports journalist, Bharat Sundaaresan took X (formerly called Twitter) to inform of Virat Kohli’s gesture to train despite rain playing a spoilsport to the practice session. “Looks even more like this is the top 6 based on how they went in the nets before rain halted practice. Virat Kohli wasn’t keen to stop batting even as the rain got heavier before he had no option but to run off with the rest of the team,” he wrote on X.
This gesture of Virat Kohli simply proves his sheer determination and dedication and his zeal to get back to form with the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series down under. Speaking of the 36-year-old, Kohli scored only 93 runs in the recently-concluded three-match Test series against New Zealand at home. The top-order batter was seen struggling to play on turning pitches along with skipper Rohit Sharma, however, he’ll be eager to return to form in the upcoming series.
Coming to the highly-anticipated five-match Test series, the first Test is scheduled for November 22 start at the Optus Stadium in Perth. The series will then move to Adelaide, where the two nations will play the second Test match, starting from December 6 at the Adelaide Oval.
