The much-awaited ICC World Cup 2023 schedule is here with the tournament just four months away. The former India cricketer Virender Sehwag and former Sri Lanka cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan were also in attendance at during the key announcement of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
During the event, the Sri Lanka off-spinner also recalled a stance from 2011 World Cup. The current Sri Lanka coach revealed that he was aware that skipper MS Dhoni will walk onto the field ahead of Yuvraj Singh in the grand finale. The former Sri Lanka cricketer during the ODI World Cup schedule announcement event said, “I knew MS Dhoni will come ahead of Yuvraj Singh in 2011 World Cup Final.”
It is to be noted a few days ago, MS Dhoni in a viral video also opened up on this move he took during the 2011 World Cup final at the Wankhede Stadium. The 41-year-old revealed that as it was Muralitharan who was bowling at that time, he promoted himself ahead of Yuvraj Singh.
“I promoted myself because Muttiah Muralitharan was bowling at that time,” Dhoni said during an event earlier this month.
Talking about the ICC ODI World Cup 2011, India eventually came out victorious by six wickets after they chased down the score of 274 put up by Sri Lanka in the final.
