The All-India Football Federation (AIFF) found several I-League players approached for match manipulation. The Indian football governing body revealed that it will further investigate the matter. However, the AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey didn’t comment on their source of information as well as the names of the players. He said that the federation is committed to save the integrity of the game.
In an official statement, Chaubey said, "We have received information of multiple approaches to our players. We will thoroughly examine the incidents, investigate, and take all necessary action. We are committed to protecting our players and our beautiful game and will not tolerate any attempts of this nature to put the players and the game at risk.”
Chaubey further commented, "We will also continue to strengthen our institutional capacities to not only counter such threats but also educate our players and officials on how to recognise, respond to, and report incidents of this nature.” The AIFF said that it has taken serious note of the matter and will take strict action towards it.
Notably, the 2023 season of the I League began in October, where a total of 13 teams have already played more than 40 matches.
