Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has been ruled out of action for up to four weeks due to a muscular injury. The four-time defending Premier champion City has lost eight and emerged victorious in only one of its last 11 games across all competitions. Man City manager Pep Guardiola has cited injury reasons of key players including Rodri, as a factor his team has been in so much trouble. Their recent blow in the form of Dias’ injury has only added to their troubles.
According to Guardiola, Dias’ injury occurred during their Sunday’s 1-2 loss to Manchester United. After 75 minutes on the field, Dias felt something, and wanted to stay on the pitch. However, the footballer is now injured. The Portugal international had missed all five matches in November with a calf problem, but made it to the field at the start of December, and has been present since then. However, owing to his recent injury, the footballer won’t be able to make it to City’s trip to Aston Villa on Saturday. Not only this, but there is also uncertainty over the fitness of goalkeeper Ederson.
Mason Mount out of action for ‘several weeks’
While Manchester City are in the middle of some huge blows, things are not well for their arch-rivals Manchester United as well. United boss Ruben Amorim confirmed earlier on Friday that Mount is out for “several weeks” because of a latest injury. It is to be noted that the midfielder was substituted after 14 minutes during the 2-1 win over Manchester City due to a muscle problem and was consoled by teammates as he walked out of the field.
Amorim didn’t give a definitive timeline for Mount’s recovery and said that he would be out only for “several weeks”. He said, “I don’t know the exact date but he is going to be out for a long time. In that sense, it is part of football and we continue. What I can do is to help “Mase,’ to teach him how to play our game when he is recovering.” He added, “With Mason Mount, we are going to help him. It is really hard for the player to be out for so long and he’s trying really hard.”
