The four-year wait for ICC’s marquee 50-over tournament is over as the schedule for the 50-over World Cup 2023 hosted in India is here. The ODI World Cup is cricket’s biggest global event which has been built on the back of its rich 47-year history. After 2019’s enthralling tournament, the World Cup returns to India. The last time, the marquee tournament was played in the subcontinent, the Men in Blue ended their 28-year World Cup title drought after defeating Sri Lanka in the Final.
This will be the fourth time a World Cup will be played in India after 1987, 1996 and 2011 and will definitely be one of the biggest sporting spectacles in the world. But there has been an unprecedented delay before the fixtures announcement, with the World Cup starting in about four months' time.
In a repeat of 2019 World Cup final, England will lock horns with New Zealand in the tournament, whereas India will begin their campaign against Australia on October 8.
