Months after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) denied Team India’s travel to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, citing security concerns, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has followed BCCI’s footsteps. The NZC has now sent a delegation to Pakistan to assess security arrangements in the country.
The New Zealand Cricket’s delegation was send seeing the country lock horns in an ODI tri-series, consisting of Pakistan and South Africa ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025. Earlier, the BCCI had denied Team India’s travel to the neighbouring nation due to security reasons. Moreover, the Men in Blue last travelled to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2008.
NZC delegation visits Pakistan to assess security ahead of CT 2025 & tri-series
Notably, the New Zealand Cricket delegation consisted of security expert Reg Dickason and New Zealand Players’ Association representative Brad Rodden. The duo visited Karachi and Lahore ahead of the highly-anticipated series and marquee tournament and are currently studying the arrangements.
Moreover, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has also sent out their delegation to Pakistan to assess the conditions and inspect the preparations for the Champions Trophy 2025. Speaking of the upcoming mega tournament, CT marks its return for the first time since 2017. While Pakistan will be hosting an ICC tournament for the first time since 1996 World Cup, it will be held in a hybrid model with India playing all its matches outside Pakistan, along with one semi-final and the final also being staged at a neutral venue.
